Item eligibility policy
Start with gear built for good days.
Last updated: September 30, 2026
AYCR may prohibit or restrict equipment based on safety, insurance, legal, payment-processing, or marketplace risk. If you are unsure whether an item is allowed, contact AYCR before listing it.
Current launch scope
AYCR is currently limited to outdoor hobby gear in these categories: camping and overlanding equipment, fishing gear, non-motorized water gear, and general outdoor recreation equipment. A listing that falls outside this scope will not be approved, even if it is described under another category.
- Do not list vehicles, vehicle accessories intended for road use, trailers, child restraint systems, firearms, ammunition, explosives, or motorized watercraft during this launch phase.
- AYCR may expand eligible categories only after it has adopted the relevant safety, insurance, operational, and legal safeguards.
Prohibited items
- Stolen property, property an Owner is not authorized to rent, illegal goods, counterfeit goods, or items with intentionally altered serial numbers or safety markings.
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives, destructive devices, illegal weapons, controlled substances, illegal drugs, prescription medications, and alcohol.
- Hazardous materials that cannot lawfully or safely be transferred, recalled products without an approved remedy, and equipment known to be unsafe.
- Child car seats and booster seats; parachutes; emergency life-support equipment; and used climbing ropes or fall-protection equipment whose safety history cannot reasonably be verified.
- Any item that cannot legally be rented or transferred, or that AYCR otherwise designates as prohibited.
Restricted categories
The following are not permitted unless and until AYCR expressly approves the category and publishes additional requirements: automobiles and trucks; motorcycles; ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, RVs, motorized boats, and personal watercraft; trailers that require licensing, registration, or specialized towing; aircraft and regulated drones; heavy construction, agricultural, industrial, or professional-operator equipment; scuba life-support equipment; and specialized climbing or mountaineering safety systems.
- AYCR may require category-specific terms, age restrictions, licensing, insurance, training, inspections, maintenance records, waivers, deposits, or additional verification before it permits a restricted category.
- An Owner may not evade this policy by describing a prohibited or restricted item differently.
Owner responsibility
Owners are responsible for knowing whether their equipment is legal and appropriate to rent. AYCR may remove a violating listing and suspend accounts involved in intentional or repeated violations.
